The Business Credit Analyst is responsible for the execution of Schreiber Foods, Inc. US and/or international credit and collection policies in order to safeguard company assets, ensure timely collections, and enhance company results.
Duties of the role include:
Understand global credit policies and procedures to safeguard accounts receivable.
Assess credit risk of new US and/or international customers through analysis of the customer credit application, credit reports, financial statements or ratios, internet research and other relevant sources of data.
Establish credit terms and limits based on risk assessment in conformance with company guidelines and any legal requirements, giving consideration to any hedge positions to be taken for the customer.
Ensure appropriate customer set-up, including completion of any necessary restricted party screening.
Continually assess the credit terms and limits for established customers; modify as appropriate.
Subject matter expert in international/export credit and collections. For international customers, consider country and political risk, currency risk, and international trade laws. Knowledge of international payment methods and business practices including letters of credit, documentary collections, cultural differences, etc.
Execute defined collection strategies.
Monitor outstanding receivables and customer payment trends.
Promote the timely collection of accounts receivable through collection actions, including holding/approving/rescheduling customer orders as deemed appropriate.
Investigate reasons for payment delay and create awareness of potential credit issues, including recommended action to mitigate risk or loss, using targeted communication to appropriate levels within the organization.
Pursue improved payment habits/resolution of credit issues.
Work towards target performance metrics, such as weighted average paid, reduction in working capital, days sales outstanding, etc. Use data to drive measurable results.
Partner with Customer Service Claims team to manage overpayments including process and policy definition, timely analysis and assistance with resolution.
Provide advice regarding appropriate collection approach, suggestions to reduce future deductions and to reduce amount of deductions written off.
Perform credit reviews of new and existing suppliers to ensure financial stability.
Build and maintain relationships with all levels of internal stakeholders.
Advise and educate Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain and other partners related to risk, extended terms requests, payment issues, improvement opportunities, etc.
Build and maintain relationships with customer and supplier contacts as appropriate.
Network with other credit professionals as appropriate.
Evaluate processes on an ongoing basis.
Research and recommend best practices or other opportunities to drive improvements, reduce risk, etc.
